Southeastern Art Gallery News

Statement of Goals:

To apply marketing resources and publishing skills to the goal of locating, educating and developing a new generation of Atlanta art buyers. Our parallel goal is to locate and help develop local artist at a very early stage of their career to prepare them for their introduction to the Atlanta and regional art community.

A recent study shows Atlanta as having the most cultural organizations per capita of any US city other than New York City. While this may or may not be true, the real question is how to get people from the suburbs to the galleries and museums that are mostly located in and south of Buckhead.

Articles about the Atlanta fine art community in the AJC or in Jezebel are given some ink along with a little depth. This is not intended as a criticism of those publications, but rather an observation on the under use of our significant Atlanta cultural resources. The purpose of this newsletter and web site is to educate a new class of potential art buyers and introduce them to the Atlanta art galleries.

Considering the great joy that all of our 401K's have brought us in the past five years, I think it may be time for some to investigate the joys of investing in and owning fine art. Just compare the 17% average annual return of investing in select fine art to the performance of the stock market since 2000 and one might be persuaded to give fine arts a closer look.

Our newsletter is sent via email twice monthly to our database of individuals in the Southeast who have the means to become buyers and collectors of fine art. Our current database of these individuals contains 37,865 current email addresses. This database is growing at a rate of about two to three hundred new individuals each week. Our data mining software cross references the executives of large regional firms and locates their personal email address in other accessible and often overlooked Internet databases.  All subscribers are provided three options, 1) to remain on our free subscription list, 2) to unsubscribe from our list and 3) to refer a friend to our list. This business model has worked well over to the past 18 months to grow our database to close to 38,000.

I welcome the submission of articles from artists, gallery owners and art dealers about the many aspects of the Atlanta fine art community and fine art in general on the national level. This web page and the email newsletter is a joint effort by those who will reap the benefits from increasing the size of the community of regional art buyers and art fans as well as assist in the development of young artists in the early phase of their careers.
