Not Podcasting Yet - but still interesting

Podcasting Described

Podcasting is a method of getting on a regular basis audio files and music into your iPod and mp3 player. This technology is coming on strong this year.

Where you see a podcasting link or RSS* feed link, you can subscribe to that podcast. Once you subscribe (most are free) then the program is automatically downloaded to your personal computer each time you run iTunes.

When you right click on one of these podcasting icons, you will be shown a link, and you copy that link and go to itunes menu item Advanced and sub-menu item Subscribe to Podcast and simply paste that URL into the URL box and click on OK.

If you then click on the Podcast item under Source on the left side of iTunes you will see your recently subscribed podcast listed, and most likely there will be small rotating icon to the left which indicates that the Podcast is currently being downloaded.

Until you delete that podcast in iTunes or other podcast retreival software, you will continue to have the lastest podcast downloaded to your PC and have the podcast syncronized or downloaded to your iPod or other MP3 device. Apple iTuens is not the only podcast gathering software applications but is considered the best by many.

*RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication which means a real simple way of getting stuff like audio files to you.
